Reliance Communications, HDFC Bank, State Bank fo India, Ranbaxy Laboratories, ITC and DLF also closed with sharp gains. Tata Motors and Cipla gained marginal ground.

Akruti City, Anant Raj Industries and Unitech have lost around 4.5% from their previous closing levels.

Reliance Energy went down by 9.85%. Hindalco and Tata Steel, the metal majors, lost 9.4% and 9% respectively.
